Cooking Class Volunteer

Task Description
To assist clients in a short course of cooking lessons, courses are four weeks in length.
To follow health and safety procedures in the kitchen.
To demonstrate and encourage good Food Hygiene practices in the kitchen.
Liaising with the volunteer coordinator about the job, the client and any issues that arise.
Engaging with and supporting the clients during the cooking course.
Adhering to all Fresh Start policies and procedures, and respecting client confidentiality.

Organisation aims and objectives

Fresh start runs a service for people who have experienced homelessness and have recently been offered a tenancy of their own. With the assistance of volunteers, Fresh Start offers both practical and emotional support through a variety of integrated services that are intended to help people manage the transition to independent living and to prevent the cyclical nature of homelessness.










3 hours per week


Experience required: Skills and Personal Qualities: Confident with cooking and following recipes. A good team worker, enthusiastic, and able to engage with clients. In good health and physically active. Good communication skills and reliable. Patient and with a sense of humour.

Minimum age: 21

Expenses details: Expenses form filled in then reimbursement paid into bank account.
Training details: Training is provided in hygiene, boundaries, basic nutrition and understanding client group.
Support: Wheelchair Access/Disabled Access Toilet
