Vaccination Centre Volunteer

Supporting East Renfrewshire HSCP/Council with the safe co-ordination of the vaccination centres, the role will focus on queue management, helping to support people at entry and exit processes. Providing some direction and guidance at carparks, checking people are in right place at right time and showing them where to go at their appointment time, signposting to entry and queue points, reminding people about social distancing, showing people where to sanitise hands and where toilet facilities are, general conversation to help put people at ease. You would be asked to direct any questions to your named support person or any member of staff available. There will be a key contact at each vaccination centre as well as within East Renfrewshire Council.

Experience required: Experience of working with members of the public would be helpful but a general willingness to help and support people would be great. Being confident when providing clear and concise instructions due to the nature of the role. Be willing to follow strict guidelines and procedures required re covid secure environment eg, hand sanitising, social distancing etc. Role requires a lot of waiting around, and will be physically demanding. Standing for several hours.
Travel details: Carmichael Hall, Eastwood Park, Rouken Glen Road, Giffnock, G46 6UG (open from 8 am - 8.30 pm) and Barrhead Foundry, Main Street, Barrhead, G78 1SW (open from 8 am - 5 pm). Both sites are open across 7 days a week but the actual days the clinics are open is confirmed by the NHS approximately 2 weeks in advance but is subject to change at short notice. A minimum of 2-3 hours per week would be appreciated, however, if you are available to do more than that then you are welcome to do so, any help would be greatly appreciated. Travel to both sites by bus and to Giffnock station (approx 15 minute walk). Free onsite parking is available.


Training details: Instruction and guidance on what your role will involve will be provided by your named contact at the centre together with an overall introduction given. Support will be available at the centres at all times.
