The role is helping in the café at Gavin’s Mill. The café offers light lunches, cakes, teas and coffees. This position gives the right person the opportunity to learn about the running of a popular café and what it entails. Learning about customer care, working as part of a team and offering a quality service. This would be ideal opportunity for someone to gain experience as a steppingstone into the hospitality industry.

Organisation aims and objectives

Experience required: The right person needs to be able to work in a fast moving environment and willing to help wherever needed. There is a lot of moving around and standing for this role. They must be willing to learn, adapt to change and be good with people. A food hygiene certificate would be useful but if not they will have the opportunity to study for one and also take the barista course. .
Travel details: Café at Gavin’s Mill, Gavin’s Mill Road, Milngavie, G62 6NB. The Mill is next to the main tescos in Milngavie on good bus and train links.

Expenses details: Not at the moment
Training details: The volunteer will be given a tour of the building, with the volunteer coordinator. They will talk about the ethos of the organisation, health and Safety and the volunteer handbook. They will then be introduced to the Café/Kitchen manager who will show them the café and what the role entails.
