Organisation aims and objectives

The purpose of The Highlanders' Museum is to:- 1. Provide an educational facility to supply authoritative information on all aspects of Highland military heritage to the widest possible public audience. 2. Collect, conserve and display items connected with the Regiment today and its antecedents, and with the military history of the Highlands and Islands. 3. To maintain a permanent Regiment focal point for the benefit of members of the Regiment, past and present, their families and descendants, the communities of the Highlands and Islands, and the general public, to generate goodwill and an understanding of the effect the Regiments have played on the social history of the Region.

Restrictions

Experience required: All training is given and volunteers will be chaperoned initially until competent.
Travel details: If volunteers have their own transport, then there is recompense of .25 pence per mile up to 30 miles per day. If using public transport, then fares will be paid on production of tickets.
Minimum age: 16

Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Visit to the museum to see the posts in operation and get a feel for the routine.
Training details: Training will be given by a member of staff and the volunteer chaperoned by a current volunteer.
