Description

Victoria Gardens is a new exciting urban growing/social space located on the edge of Balgay Park. We have exciting plans for the space including a community kitchen and picnic benches.

Now we are looking for volunteers to help us to build a pond, club house, mud kitchen, and sow seeds.

The Garden is open we open Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10 to 3 pm in winter time and in spring / summer it will be open 5 days a week 10am to 4pm.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Yusuf Youth Initiative is a dynamic youth led organization aspiring to nurture leaders of tomorrow. We provide enriching programs incorporating accreditation in sports, volunteering and the development of social action projects that will encourage young people from the BME community to grow, strive and become change makers in a vibrant and changing society.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We can cover bus travel expenses. They would keep a receipt and paid by the Manager on site.
Training details: At the start of the session, they will be introduced to the garden, the organisation, its policies. The volunteer will be given opportunities of different roles at the garden. After they commit they will be supported with ongoing training by our on site gardener.

Tamfourhill Community Garden Volunteers

Are you green fingered? Good at growing vegetables? Passionate about getting more people growing food in Falkirk? Project Food at FEL are looking for Volunteers to be Garden Buddies! You'll be part of a project which aims to plant the seed for healthier, more sustainable futures by helping people grow their own food and make tasty, nutritious meals with it. Through buddying, mentoring, networking and peer learning, we help community leaders and volunteers share food knowledge and get more produce growing locally. As a Garden Buddy, you'll be matched to a community project with a garden and will be there to guide them as they develop their growing project. So, whether you consider yourself an expert when it comes to growing food or you've managed to get some herb pots going and grown some garden veggies – we want to hear from you! How you support and how much time you commit is completely up to you and who you’re matched with. It could be 1 hr a month where you have a monthly planning session over coffee, it could be ad-hoc remote advice, or it could be a couple of hours a week/month of hands-on involvement in the growing process. If you don't quite consider yourself an expert, this could even be an opportunity to learn alongside your community project if you are looking to build on your own skills and knowledge

Community Garden Volunteers

Eglinton Demonstration Community Food Gaden will provide a range of therapeutic activities for community use and will directly support a number of client groups such as learning disabilities, mental health, ex-offenders, older people, veterans and people experiencing drug and alcohol problems. it will provide all members of the community with learning opportunities related to gardening, growing food and cooking. It will enable individuals to learn new skills, tools and coping mechanisms and promote positive changes in health diet and lifestyle.

Community Garden Volunteers

To help maintain a Community Garden with the opportunity to harvest organic fruit and vegetables when they are ready to eat. To improve your health and well-being and gain confidence in growing food. Our volunteer work involves weeding and preparing the beds and ground for planting; watering the garden and polytunnel; pruning and propagation of fruit bushes and fruit trees; mowing the grass; planting seedlings and re-potting plants; harvesting fruit and vegetables; filling up the water butts; tidying of sheds/tools; recording harvests; preparation of veg/fruit boxes; harvesting the orchards; topping up compost on beds; rotating the 3 compost beds; helping others in the garden; sharing knowledge and ideas to improve the garden; reporting any damage to the garden; help with fundraising.
