The Ayr Ark has 3 main aims: Engage, Equip and Empower young people in South Ayrshire specifically the Ayr and Prestwick areas. We have Multiple youth clubs on during the week and our main one being a Friday night. Alongside this we are in 5 schools across Ayr and Prestwick, mentoring young people to make positive decisions. The Ayr Ark is a safe and supportive environment for young people where they can build life skills and confidence. CURRENT OPPORTUNITES At the Ark we have multiple clubs and activities, and we are looking for volunteers for all areas: Craft club (October- April) - Tuesday 4pm-5pm Empower Autism- Wednesday 4pm-5pm Empower Autism- Thursday 4pm-5pm Friday night drop in- Friday 6pm-9pm We are looking for vibrant individuals who have a passion for working with young people from diverse backgrounds. To get alongside them, chat to them and support them. The Ark is a safe place for young people and our volunteers must be friendly and approachable to our young people. All volunteers will be expected to comply with our volunteer policy and handbook. PVGs will be given to volunteers over 16. Other opportunities: The Ark is very busy behind the scenes. If working face to face with young people isn’t really your thing, we are still looking for lots of other volunteers with skillsets like fundraising, design, social media, finance. The aim of the Network is to build on the success of the Young Islanders Challenge and ensure that the voices of young islanders are heard. In 2021 Young islanders took part in the pilot project: The Young Islanders Challenge. Working in partnership with the Scottish Government and the National Islands Plan, Youth Scotland’s Young Islanders Challenge was created to represent the views and opinions of young people living and growing up in Scotland’s island communities. • A key commitment in the National Islands Plan is that young people from all our islands will be consulted in the implementation of the Plan. The contributions from the Young Islanders Network will ensure that the interests and priorities of Young Islanders are carefully considered and reflected in the development of the Islands Plan. The YIN is not intended to supersede or replace any existing youth organisations and networks already operating in our island communities. Its role will be to help build on these and facilitate engagement and collaboration across our islands. The Young Islander Champions will be invited to; o Take part in community challenges. o Develop their leadership skills. o Lead on social action changes in their community. The young people and the Youth workers who support them will be able to access Place2B and Y2B peer mental health training. We recognise from the discussions during the Pilot project that Young Islanders feel that their mental health and support in their own area is important to them. We are currently working with youth hubs across the islands to showcase the activities of the Young Islanders Network to the whole of Scotland.

We are a not for profit community interest organisation supporting young people and children's mental health and wellbeing. Our Volunteer roles vary from organising and hosting workshops and assisting with community fundraising projects, face painting, entertainment and supporting local charities and events. We are seeking volunteers to support our community hub learning skills such as customer service, stock taking, cashier skills, hosting and organising. We also have volunteer opportunities for our up and coming projects such as our youth group. A fantastic opportunity to be involved in exciting projects and activities which make a positive difference for children/young people’s mental health and wellbeing and the community. We offer a safe space for young people to get together, chat and hang out. We are open every Friday evening 7-9pm. The Basement offers a big space, which is bright and airy, were young people can meet to catch up. No experience is needed, only lots of enthusiasm. You will always work alongside an experience member of the committee at each session. The volunteers work on a rota system so ther is no need to commit to being there evet Friday night, unless of course you want to!
