Comradeship Circles Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer to support our Comradeship Circles service, which offers older members of the ex-service community the opportunity to enjoy regular group camaraderie by telephone.

You will join the Veterans Friendship Circles Facilitator on group phone calls, which last up to an hour, helping to facilitate discussion, developing resources to enrich Circles in response to members' interests, and providing pre and post call administrative support. Currently this role is home based, with access to a phone required.

Organisation aims and objectives

We work to improve the later lives of everyone on the ageing journey. We celebrate ageing and challenge ageist prejudice throughout society. Our mission is to make Scotland a better place for older people. From a dedicated helpline for older people, to support and funds for older people's groups, to campaigns on the issues that older people tell us matter to them, we're working on many fronts to make Scotland a better place for older people.










Frequency and commitment details

4-7 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months.


Experience required: Knowledge/appreciation of the ex-service community. Creativity. Confidentiality. Understanding/commitment to equal opportunities. Active listening. Clear verbal communication. People skills. IT skills.
Travel details: Currently remote/home based. Some volunteering from Age Scotland's Edinburgh office may be necessary once it has reopened.

Expenses details: Out of pocket expenses by agreement.
Training details: Age Scotland induction. Older Veterans Awareness Training. Ongoing support.
