Aberdeen Citizens Advice Bureau (ACAB) seeks a volunteer Board Member with a finance background to continue the work done by our current Treasurer and play an active role in preparing the Bureau for the demands of the future.

ACAB is an independent Scottish charity and a member of the Citizens Advice Scotland network.

The Bureau provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to the citizens of Aberdeen and its environs that is accessible and tailored to meet the needs of the community.

The core role of the Treasurer is to advise the Board on all financial matters and to oversee the financial affairs of ACAB and ensure that they are legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice.

Organisation aims and objectives

Aberdeen Citizens Advice Bureau is an independent Charity that provides individuals with impartial, confidential, free advice on a range of issues including benefits, debt, employment and consumer issues as well as influencing social policy locally and nationally.










Flexible times available. All help greatly appreciated.


Experience required: The Treasurer will have the ability and the experience to oversee the financial affairs and governance of the Bureau and will have the skills to analyse key financial matters and to present fellow Board Members with clear option appraisals and recommendations.
Travel details: At home and at the ACAB offices, 41 Union Street, Aberdeen, AB11 5BN.

Training details: Excellent training and support provided. Volunteers receive full information and training on the work of Aberdeen Citizens Advice Bureau including statutory training eg. on data protection.
