The Coastal Communities Museum Trust is tasked with raising funds, establishing exhibition programmes, maintaining community outreach and day-to-day running of the museum. This is achieved with support from volunteers in many roles. The Coastal Communities Museum is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation and is volunteer run with a Board of Trustees.
In 2023 the museum will be open at 11.00am - 4.00pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays plus bank holidays, from April to November.
The development of the Coastal Communities Museum is the culmination of a ten year community campaign to reopen and redevelop the Museum previously housed in the upper floors of the Grade C Listed 1876 North Berwick School building in School Road. The redevelopment is a Partnership between East Lothian Council (ELC) and local people which is designed to represent the rich culture and heritage, not just of North Berwick, but of all the communities in the North Berwick Coastal Ward which includes Aberlady, Gullane, Dirleton, Whitekirk and the hinterland.
